Revival:  To bring back to life.  Restoration of usefulness.  A term I have been thinking about a lot over the last few months in several different contexts.  Mostly a need for revival in my own life.  It has been about a year and a half since my last post.  This last year has been a whirlwind.  At one point it was an actual whirlwind as a tornado came through a year ago today.  We were fortunate with only minor damage, but even at that, the repairs were just recently completed.  But that was only part of it.  Continue reading “Revival”

Crossing the Line

As a dad, I want to help and encourage my kids in all their endeavors.  I want them to learn a healthy work ethic, to do what it takes to be good at what they do.  But there is a line somewhere between encouraging them and pushing them.  The line between having a good work ethic and being a kid.  Sometimes I cross that line and push a bit much, probably because I’m not sure where that line is.

I often hear people say “you have to start them in (sports/dance/music, etc.) early if they are going to be successful at it.”  I haven’t bought in to that way of thinking and do not agree with it.  What five year old knows what he wants to do with the rest of his life? A Balanced Life

I love my kids.  Sometimes it just seems like I can’t get enough time with them.  As they get older… or maybe I should say as I get older, the time just continues to slip away.  I think that if I could spend 24 hours a day every day with them, it wouldn’t be enough.  Somedays 5 minutes is more than I can take.  As a dad with a full time job, ministry leadership roles, and parents to help care for, there is a lot of activity to fill a limited amount of time.  It seems there is always one area of my life that is in dire need of some attention.
