I like to plan things. Sometimes I tend to over plan things. Spreadsheets, calendars, research, and lists are things that I tend to enjoy. As much as I like to plan, life rarely turns out as I had planned. This used to frustrate me, and the slightest detour away from my plans could ruin an outing. At some point along the way, I finally learned (for the most part) to enjoy the journey. The best things in life are often the unplanned, unexpected things.
Photography has been a hobby of mine for a long time. I love taking pictures of just about everything, and occasionally I get a great photo I can enjoy. One thing it has taught me is to find beauty and joy in the places you least expect it. This week I want to share some of those unexpected things with you.
I like to go chase wildflowers. This year, I’m not sure I will get to do that because of a fairly busy schedule and some projects I am trying to finish. Last year, my wife and I spent some time between Brenham and Navasota, TX. We headed out one morning to find some wildflowers. We found some, and I did manage to get a couple of good photos out of the hundreds that I took. But my best memory of that trip is driving down a small country road and coming across this church in Wiedeville. There were no wildflowers around, but this little church caught my attention. It wasn’t what I was looking for, but it is my favorite memory of that outing.
