I have always enjoyed writing and I have enjoyed sharing my thoughts here from time to time. As we go through different times or “seasons” in our lives, sometimes we don’t get to do some of the things we love to do because we are busy with other things. But that is really what this blog is about. Living life every day.
I grew up in the church. My dad was in church leadership my entire life. We were at church every Sunday. One of the things I learned from my dad is that “church” is not just Sunday morning. Yes, that’s when we all come together to “have church”, but really church happens all week.
For most of us, church is only an hour or two on Sunday morning. With my parents in church leadership, it really was half a day for us. Our family was always at church early to make sure everything was ready, working, and clean. After services, we were always the last to leave, even occasionally being left behind and my parents coming back to get me… ok… it was only once. Now I have my own family. I am part of the tech team and I am usually one of the first to arrive and last to leave. Church is still half a day for me. And no, I have not left any kids at church… yet. But life is not about those few hours on Sunday.
Being a Christian means following Christ every day. While going to church and being part of a church family is very important, I believe the other six and a half days are more important. This blog is about those other six and a half days. Yes, I will share my thoughts about church from time to time, but the focus is on what it means to be a Christian. What it means to be a follower of Christ. It is about being a dad. It is about being a husband. Having fun. Being the best me that I can be. I do not pretend to have all the answers. In fact, I have a lot more questions than I have answers. This blog is about growing to be the person God wants me to be and living life six and a half days a week.
